Meetings
Our monthly meetings begin with a very brief business meeting, followed by a prominent genealogist speaking on a topic of genealogical interest.
We offer hybrid meetings on the third Saturday of the month at 1 p.m. Pacific Time.
Join us to gain valuable information and to meet with other like-minded family historians.

Membership Benefits
Your membership in Whittier Area Genealogical Society (WAGS) comes with the following benefits:
- A Voice in Society Matters. Members vote on society business, including election of officers, bylaw changes, standing rules changes, and annual budgets.
- Leadership Opportunities. Members are eligible to serve on the WAGS Board and the Leadership Team.
- Volunteer Opportunities. Members can:
- Serve on committees, including our Hospitality Committee, our Historical Committee, and our Web Team.
- Volunteer to host monthly meetings (bring refreshments).
- Volunteer as an in-person greeter at our meetings at the South Whittier Library.
- Volunteer as an online greeter at our Zoom meetings.
- Help represent us at community events, such as the annual Whittier Founders Day celebration each May.
- Become a published author. Submit a story and we'll consider including it in an upcoming issue of our newsletter.
- Propose and implement society projects.
- Monthly Reminders. Don't miss a meeting! Our members receive automatic email notifications of our upcoming meetings.
- Monthly Newsletter. Your membership includes an annual online subscription to our award-winning newsletter, WAGS Family Tales.
- Members Only Website Content. Our members have access to the following:
- Society Documents, including our Bylaws, Standing Rules, and other related documents.
- Monthly Meeting Handouts. View or download meeting handouts from past meetings. Availability of specific handouts may be subject to restrictions requested by our speakers.
- WAGS Family Tales back issues. We have several years of WAGS Family Tales issues available online for our members.
- Surname Database. Members can update their family surnames in our Surname Database and could have opportunities to connect with others in our society that are researching the same surnames.
- .Eligibility for Valuable Prizes. We usually hold a drawing at our monthly meeting to award a door prize to one of our members.
- You must be in attendance at the meeting to win.
