Using case studies, Bill takes participants through alternative record sources and creative approaches to overcome obstacles and brick walls created by pesky ancestors who frustrate researchers! The presentation is NOT theoretical. It does NOT include the traditional usual alternatives of BMDs, state censuses, city directories, or land records. IT IS practical and “hands on.” Participants learn 16 useful tips and techniques plus 7 lessons learned over forty-plus years of applied genealogical research. They will vicariously experience thrills associated with overcoming obstacles and busting through brick walls!
About Our Speaker

Bill Cole’s passion for genealogy and family history began at an early age. Born on his grandfather Cole’s 78th birthday, he has vigorously pursued his family history since 1980. Bill has uncovered ancestors born at sea, a shipwrecked rogue who survived Jamestown, two Mayflower ancestors, his English ancestors thought to be impossible to find, multiple Revolutionary War patriots on both sides, and other fascinating characters – including one involved in a California stagecoach robbery. Whether from the page as author of three books and numerous articles, or on stage as a presenter, Bill Cole is in-demand for conferences and societies. Acclaimed as a master storyteller, his virtual, in-person, and hybrid presentations are informational, impactful, and inspirational for all levels of genealogists and family historians.
